Gonzales ISD will celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday starting with an early release on Wednesday, November 25th. The early release schedule is:

Gonzales ISD will be utilizing the Texas Fitness Now Grant to assist sixth, seventh, and eighth graders, along with their families, in becoming educated to the advantages of being committed to healthy eating habits and an active lifestyle in order to reduce obesity and related diseases.  They will be shown a wide range of enjoyable, cooperative, and competitive ways to develop endurance, aerobic capacity, flexibility, muscle strength, and a positive body composition that deemphasizes humiliation and fosters self esteem for those not particularly athletically inclined. 

The physical education teachers at North Avenue Intermediate and Gonzales Junior High will be working together as they expose students to goal setting and then using pedometers and charts to plan and track healthy eating and exercising practices.

GISD is looking forward to this exciting program designed to make a lifelong impact on the eating habits and fitness of our students and their families.
