Welcome to the Gonzales Junior High School 2012-2013 school year! Whether your family is returning for another school year or you are new to the campus, I hope you find this school year to be filled with opportunities and experiences that will help your children develop physically, socially, intellectually, and emotionally to their fullest potential. I am looking forward to meeting and working with the students, staff, and community as we strive to make this an outstanding year and an outstanding school campus!
Famous UCLA coach, John Wooden said, “There is a choice you have to make in everything you do. So keep in mind that in the end, the choices you make make you!” In the field of education, we often hear excuses about why people are who they are. Many people think that the environment makes them, or the conditions make them, or their money makes them, or their friendships make them. They are going around looking for someone to make their day and to get them to where they aren’t getting on their own. I honestly believe that it is our own personal choices that make each of us. If our choices are good, it will help make you and if your choices are bad, it will cause you to be unhappy and/or unsuccessful. As we think about our day, the most important thing to remember is simple: Choices are our own responsibility. We need to put forth a conscious effort to make the most of them each and every day. Once you make a decision, no matter how great or small, rarely will you get the opportunity for a “do over.”
As Assistant Principal, I want to assure you that the choices I make as Assistant Principal will always be to ensure that our students receive the best education possible. I have made the personal decision to continue to support them in their education and activities and ask that you choose to join me on this rewarding trip.
