8th Grade Appreciation Poster
By Mrs. Pekar’s students
Pictured are eighth grade students showing their appreciation to their favorite teacher, Mrs. Pekar. Mrs. Pekar was much joyed that the young men appreciated her so much they drew a picture and each signed their name. The photo has very caring details.
You’re awesome,
GJHS students

On Tuesday, April 30, 7th Grade Advanced Science students spent the day at Palmetto State Park in Ottine and participated in many outdoor activities sponsored and supervised by park personnel. They enjoyed canoeing on the Oxbow Lake, fishing, hiking, and archery. It was a wonderful opportunity for all who attended. For many of the students it was their first experience in a canoe, or the first fish they caught, first time they used a bow, or hiked in a state park. The class wishes to thank the parent chaperones who helped make the day successful: Mrs. Janna Christian, Mrs. Toni Morgan, Mrs. Linda Glass, Mr. Kirk Bennett, and Dr. Chris Walker. A special thanks to Park Superintendent Todd Imboden and the attending Palmetto State Park personnel for being such great hosts and making it an exciting day to remember.

The latest display in the science hallway features plant and animal cell models constructed by 7th grade students. This was a required project for advanced students and an optional project for students in regular classes. These students did a terrific job of using their creativity in finding materials to model and labeling the organelles of a cell. The 7th grade students made clever and colorful 3-D models of plant and animal cells.

7th grade science students were treated to a hands-on, 'live' demonstration of cow lungs in conjunction with their studies on the respiratory system. They were able to touch and observe the trachea and lung tissue as it was inflated using a shop vac.
