The demonstrative essay is designed for students to write about a talent or skill using strategic writing mechanics like transitions.  This project is fun for the students as they get to write about something they love.  I have students writing about all sorts of unique topics from how to make ice cream to how to saddle a horse—as seen in the picture (Alyson McKnight).  As a teacher, I am beyond pleased with the students’ participation and eagerness to write.

Spanish Virtual Vacation

On Tuesday, May 13th, Señora Adams' Spanish I classes took a virtual vacation to Mexico in the HS library. Students were given "passports" with questions to answer at each of their destinations. Students traveled through various stations using iPads and QR codes to discover facts about Mexican geography, culture, celebrations, food, and famous people. This project was a collaborative effort between Señora Adams, HS librarian Ms Waddell, and Region 13 instructional coach Mrs Schramm.

Student Artist

GHS wants to thank Charles for a job well done.  He drew this mural in 10 minutes and then the rest of his class helped finish with the painting.
