My name is Shirley Molina and I teach 3rd grade math, science and Social Studies. I have been teaching in both the public and private schools for 31 years, 14 of which have been with Gonzales Independent School District.
I am a graduate of Gonzales High School and Southwest Texas State University (known as Texas State University today) where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. I also have certifications in Bilingual/ESL and in Gifted and Talented. I have been a U.I.L number sense coach for the last thirteen years. I am also a member of the LPAC committee for our school.
I have been married to my husband George for 33 years. He is also employed with Gonzales Independent School. I have two sons Justin and Bryan. Justin is a high school algebra teacher and a coach. Bryan is a 4th grade teacher here at Gonzales Elementary. My sister Ruby Rodriguez recently retired after teaching first grade for 40 years with Gonzales I.S.D. My other sister Amanda Vasquez is a reading specialist. Educating students truly runs in our family!
Having been born and raised in Gonzales, I am excited everyday working with the students of our community. I believe all children can succeed in one fashion or another with the right guidance and love. I also believe that it is very important that we take time to encourage our children to do their best in everything they try. I set very high expectations for my students because I want all of my students to reach their highest potential. I want all of my students to leave my classroom knowing they have the self-confidence that they can achieve their dreams. My ultimate satisfaction is gained when I see my students eyes light up when they reach a goal they have set!
