Hello! My name is Shari Barta.
I have happily been a part of the GISD family since 1993 and have been fortunate enough to spend some time at all five campuses, either as a substitute (in the early years) or as a teacher. Currently, I am serving Gonzales ISD as school counselor at Gonzales Elementary School.
I am proud to call myself a member of the GHS Class of 1984. One of my favorite things about working in the Gonzales Independent School District is working with my former classmates and other people I have known for many years. It has been especially rewarding to me to see my former students grow up, continue their education, and come back and serve their hometown in some way.
After high school, I received my BS Ed from the University of Houston-Victoria and my MS Ed from the University of West Alabama. Working online to get my degree certainly presented its challenges, but I am so glad I made the effort! As a school counselor, I hope to encourage others to take advantage of the many opportunities there are to further their education.
Two entertaining young people call me “Mom.” Dustin, a 2011 GHS graduate, has joined his dad full time in the construction company. Alyssa, an eighth grader at GJH, keeps me busy with all her extra-curricular activities.
It is my goal each day to spend my time helping students do what they need to do to become educated, productive citizens.
Feel free to call (830.672.1467, ext. 5970) or email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) me if you have any questions or concerns.
GO APACHES!
