GISD Welcomes Coach Jeremy Mills as Head Basketball Coach Gonzales High School is very pleased to announce that Jeremy Mills has accepted the position of boys Head basketball coach and freshman football coach. Coach Mills will also teach Health at the high school.
Mr. Mills graduated from South Houston High School in 1995 and was 23-5A All-District in Basketball and Baseball. Coach Mills played Basketball Collegiately for San Jacinto College 1996-97. His team went 36-1 and was National Runner Up with only loss of the season being in the National Championship Game to Indian Hills, Iowa. Coach Mills was a teammate and back-up Point Guard to former Houston Rockets NBA All-Star, Steve Francis. Coach Mills graduated from The University of Houston in 2000. After graduation he accepted a position as Assistant Coach at Georgetown ISD for the last 9 years. His team went 22-12 in 2009 and earned a berth into the State Playoffs. Coach Mills was selected the Assistant Coach of the Year in 2006 by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches 5A. Coach Mills already feels a fondness for Gonzales as he coached former Gonzales Apache and Texas Tech Red Raider Darryl Dora in 2002 for Houston Select. Jeremy’s wife Kim will be teaching Math in Gonzales ISD. They have two children (Jaden 4) and (Kinlee 3). Quoting Coach Mills “We feel very blessed to be given the opportunity to live and work in Gonzales.” |
