Gonzales Elementary Fourth Grade Students celebrate the History of Come & Take It with Judge Bird, Pioneer Village representatives and local Community Members
CHAPTER 41 Election Results-Thank you GISD voters!
On September 30th, 2014, residents of Gonzales ISD made your voice heard in an affirmative manner by overwhelmingly supporting the Propositions made available for methods of the nonnegotiable recapture imposed by the property wealthy designation. Of the 350 voters, 344 voted for Proposition 1 and 340 voted for Proposition 2. We extend a sincere thank you to the GISD community for your support! Your vote supports Gonzales ISD by forever maintaining district boundaries and GISD tax base parameters as set forth when GISD began in 1892.
Now we move forward with next steps. The recapture amount of $1,005,055.00 will either be sent to state in the form of purchasing attendance credits from the state or to a property poor district in the form of purchasing attendance credits directly from a property poor district.
As you recall, we have the option for the first year only to save up to a teacher's salary by use of the state option. At any rate, as we you have approved, we will move forward in examining savings outcomes and beginning the process of determining a partner district for sending the amount to a property poor district.
Chapter 41 implications may be a nonnegotiable with TEA, but one day when we no longer have the status of a wealthy property district; GISD will have the power to be the same district as it has always been.
